Should you have the cervical cancer vaccination?

Vaccination against HPV is the best way to prevent cervical cancer. You still need to attend your cervical screening even if you have been vaccinated. The HPV vaccination can also protect against the types of HPV which account for most cases of genital warts. The vaccine, Gardasil, can be given to both males and females aged 9-27.

It is a private service from your pharmacist but girls ages 12-18 may be eligible for this service on the NHS and boys aged 12-13 will be eligible starting in September 2019.

The HPV vaccine is the best way to prevent cervical cancer

"There is a national vaccination programme in schools against HPV which is shortly being extended to boys as well. If you have missed these vaccinations, it is still possible to obtain them privately through your pharmacist."
